at the charts on the individual states, they tend to have a spike in new deaths per day and then a downward curve. Later on they may have a 2nd wave or even a 3rd wave, but if the 1st or 2nd one was significant any later uptick is lower than the first.

The states that have a very low initial wave are at risk of "the big one" later.
