1. The first link is anything but a ringing endorsement for cloth community masking, and in fact, cites an RCT which showed really poor results for such masks. There is nothing in that first link that demonstrates "they sure as hell lower the rate of transmission".
2. The second link is about a study involving hamsters that were not wearing face masks (obviously) but were instead in CAGES separated by mask borders. The amount of variables between that study and human interpersonal interaction are too many to count.
The only RCT that has been conducted with a controlled group of humans was done in Denmark, and the data from that RCT have been blackballed for the scientific journals.
