Practically everyone has a skeleton in their closet. There is a distinction between fighting in an insurrection against the US to preserve slavery versus engagement in other activity where some bad decisions were made. We could go on with the "what about this or that" and pretty much we would have no statues and a bunch of street named after colors. Why would you want to name military bases after the enemy that lost a conflict against the US. Fort Rommel?
