because someone is suspected of passing counterfeit money they are required to respond. Make no mistake what happened after that was complete BS but up to that point they were doing the job they were paid to do.
When police respond to criminal complaints there are a certain percentage of people that are going to fight or flee. If we tell the police to just back off if this happens then every suspect will eventually resist. That is not a realistic option.
As a teacher I have had to be aware of this when I break up kids who are fighting. How can I stop them without crossing any lines? It is a fine line to walk. But in my case I know that the absolute worst that will happen is I might take a pubch from a kid. Cops face possible fatal worst case scenarios. When people resist the police there will sometimes be fatalities or serious injuries. How can that be avoided?
Just for clarification I am not claiming that Floyd resisted in any way. I am speaking to the bigger issues here.
