The war was fought in actuality over secession but the south seceded because of slavery. Don't believe me? Ask your ancestors. They spelled it out very clearly in their declarations of secession and the confederate constitution. Ask Confederate General John Mosby.

The evidence that the south seceded solely to protect slavery is overwhelming and irrefutable. It was recorded by those that seceded. Few are naive enough to see the civil war as something as honorable as a struggle between good and evil but it was a struggle caused by slavery.
