that Sunday was coming.

We are blessed to know the truth and to not live in the gloom, knowing of the Resurrection.
It was the day Christ set us free. Christ was offered once for all. He is not offered every year. That's done, over, finished, finito, kaput. The Christians of the day were tormented by their lack of knowledge. We are not. It is a day of celebration, understanding the magnitude of the victory achieved on that day. Good Friday is the day my sin debt was cancelled. Hallelujah! And we don't have a single day of solemn remembrance of Christ sacrifice, for as often as we eat the meat and drink the blood, we do it in solemn remembrance. But then we are joyful and live life, and are cheerful, not mechanically living in a constant state of mourning.
"A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance."
If you knew the depth of the gift given, and the depth of the punishment the Christian escapes, you would, if you were/are a Christian, be merry over the escape, and the freedom obtained.
