Well the vaccine may not eliminate the chances of catching the flu, greatly reduces the intensity of the illness. According to the CDC, those who are vaccinated and still catch the flu have an 82% less chance of being hospitalized because of the virus.

So, back to your original point, if people got vaccinated for the flu there would be plenty of hospital beds for Coronavirus patients
