Why the concern over COVID-19. It isn't death stats.

It isn't bodies lying in the street. It isn't total societal collapse.
It is a virus, that so far studies have shown result in a high rate of hospitalizations. The US and a lot of the Northern Hemisphere already is under flu season. US hospitals are operating at >90% capacity.
An influx of new sick people requiring hospitalization for pneumonia or worse would further put strains on the healthcare system.
The concern is that there will be people who cannot be treated, not just for COVID-19, but other illnesses due to lack of resources. Doctors and nurses could be further impacted as there are no antibodies in their system to fight the SARS-CoV-2 virus. There are no vaccines. So as they get sick, a further hit on the ability of hospitals to take care of patients of all illnesses.
So while COVID-19 may kill 2% of this infected (likely lower), people of other illnesses would be at greater risk of dying as well if the healthcare system is overloaded.
