The early 2000’s? Basketball was so rugged, it was one reason why Quin couldn’t win big. He wasn’t emphasizing defense and rebounding in the rugged Big 12. OU bullied us. The point is the game and officiating has changed throughout. The Michael Jordan era of basketball was playground tough, and the college game followed suit. It was about ten years ago that they made a concerted effort to eliminate hand checking etc.....to make basketball the fluid game it once was. The game now is unwatchable, at least the games MU plays in. Although I still watch I admit, the officiating has made the game choppy and frustrating to watch with needless foul calls that don’t affect the game. Other leagues don’t seem to have this, and other SEC games I watch don’t seem to be bogged down like Mizzou games. I cant figure out if I’m biased, or Mizzou really does foul to the point where all these fouls need to be called.
