better because it was a corpse when he took it over.
Many passionate, but irrational and impatient fans wanted to fire him because that's what fanatics do.
But everyone with a brain saw that every aspect of the program was better year to year after he was hired.
Totally the opposite of Barry Odom. The further we got away, we started seeing everything was worse. We no longer were a D-line school. We no longer were a QB school. We no longer had any good WRs. And we couldn't sustain the success Pinkel had in-state talent.
Odom and Pinkel are exact opposite of each other.
Pinkel took over a program with a .350 winning pct over 15 years and turned it into one of the most consistent winners in the nation, while appearing in 4 championship games in 8 years at the two best conference in the country.
Odom took over a program with a .650 winning pct over 15 years and immediately took it back to Larry Smith/Bob Stull levels of inconsistency, mediocrity and sometimes misery.
