as is socialized militarism (which purports to be "defense").

In fact, there is some conceptual overlap here.

The socialization of losses associated with a socialized military makes it more likely that those in charge will act recklessly and without cost-consciousness.

When losses are privatized, those in charge are much better stewards of the resources that come in and go out and work to avoid unnecessary losses.
