He didn't just inherit a dumpster fire of a program, he inherited one that was historically bad for three years. When you look around at what other new coaches have done, there are plenty of examples of coaches who took some time to rebuild because they didn't sign McD's all Americans...how about some patience?
I agree that it shouldn't take as long to rebuild in basketball, but when you're coming off a 3-year period like we were, we need to be more patient as fans, IMO. If he'd taken over a functional program, I'd agree that three years is plenty of time to get it right. With what he took over, it may take 5 years to get it straightened out.
As for recruiting, that's also going to take a while. Think about it - while current high school kids were growing up, our team was sucking badly. As time passes, that will impact recruiting less and less. Part of it is optics and part of it is negative recruiting, I'm sure.
