He made the tournament only 1 time in his first four years, and won his first tourney game in his his fifth year.

How about Jay Wright, who didn't take Villanova (a program that had a modern national title to boot) to the tournament until year 4?

And where exactly is this this slack that Martin is receiving?

This argument that all it takes is signing a couple of elite players to turn around a program is lazy. Most programs take 3-4 years to rebuild, especially the ones that have staying power.

Martin hasn't even coached 3 full seasons here, and didn't even get the opportunity to capitalize on his first recruiting class because of injuries.
