to see the value in protecting allies and alliances. There are myriads of layers in between keeping troops in harm's way vs. using a proxy vs. other types of agreements with threats of sanctions if Turkey doesn't act appropriately. Instead, we just folded at the table and walked away. At least that's the way it appears.
