Reminds me of the night I was working and the streetlights all flashed. My Sgt, who was reading my reports for approval, said "uh oh...someone just had an accident".

Call came out just a few minutes later. Found a car had run off the road and hit a utility pole. Broke the pole off and the unseat-belted 14-year old driver had impaled his knee on one of the dashboard heat/ac controls.

Get him to the hospital (after MedAct pulled his knee off the dash--ouch) and call his mom. "We have your son in the ER". No you don't...my son's in bed. "Go check, I'll wait."

Turns out he lived in Grandview and had been taking his mom's car for months in the middle of the night and driving all over KC.
