that Dresden held military significance and was a vital supply hub for the Nazis. What Churchill was admitting, was that the political optics of the raid outweighed the military significance and that Churchill (in retrospect) would have rather allowed more Allied troops die than suffer political fallout from destroying enemy capabilities.
