comprehend that we must adopt some socialistic principles to have things like roads, bridges, armies, currency and laws. But even though we have made concessions there we can still oppose further erosions of our individual rights.

To have a functioning society one must cede some of their rights for the greater good. It does not have to be an all or nothing proposition.
