I oppose socialistic policies in my state and at the federal level.
Could public education be handled privately? In most affluent areas with a critical mass of families, it probably could. Low-income areas and places with low population densities probably not. Every state has made the choice to constitutionally fund public education. This probably came down to a simple cost-benefit analysis that the social costs of not educating a large portion of the economy would be greater than the actual costs from educating them. Just because some of our programs have socialistic roots does not mean we need to go all Mao Zedong and jump in whole hog for every socialist program.
