being a late first round/early second round pick is not the start typically to a successful NBA career. Most often those guys don't stay in the league, or don't make it in the first place.
If you are thinking short term and wanting to get an immediate payday, its the way to go. Given his father has a $400k job at Mizzou and his brother is already a millionaire I assume he doesn't have the same financial pressures that force many players into that short term thinking.
