that for some reason most simply choose to overlook any correlation to reality. The actual real world doesn't support that notion.
Take an example like Kim English vs Jabari Brown.
English sort of sucked his junior year, declared for the draft and returned for his senior season. Became a late second round pick and actually earned a contract and played in the NBA. His talent level stayed exactly the same from his junior and senior season, but he matured considerably and improved the non-physical aspects of his game immensely.
Jabari led the SEC in scoring as a junior, and would have almost certainly been an All American and 1st round selection as a senior had he returned. Instead he went undrafted, bounced back and forth between the G-League and brief stints in the NBA, played for a few years in China and now is no longer playing.
That is what actually happens. Over and over. Most just choose to ignore it and focus on a fantasy alternative.
