early despite absurd medical costs stand to benefit the most. And it is funded, more or less, by those that are less fortunate.

Ignoring the many effects that single-payer HC would have, I find it abhorrent that HC costs would be so steep that they are the single biggest reason keeping perhaps hundreds of thousands (if not millions) from retiring early.
