$30k per year on insurance? Or uninsured treatments?

Ill assume its insurance premiums and counter with a few questions:
Do you think all Americans can afford $30k per year to be insured?
Do you think they SHOULD have to pay $30k per year?
What happens to those that cant afford it and go to an ER anyway (where they will not be turned away)?
I dont know that a single payer HC is the best solution, but it should be examined. In the United States, we pay about double what other countries pay for what is arguably the same quality of treatment.
Austrailia's HC plan seems to strike the best balance between what many want. You have the option of paying 5% more in taxes for govt-funded healthcare or save that 5% and purchase it out of pocket. Those that think private insurance is better can get it and those that find it to be an exorbitant cost can pay more in taxes.
