A scholarship should be a 4 year commitment, both to the player and from the school. You shouldn't have your scholarship end because the staff decides to go in a different direction or because they mis-evaluated your ability, and if they want to use a scholarship on someone who leaves early that is fine but one of their 13 scholarships to give out is tied up for the remainder of that 4 year period. You can sustain a model of a couple early entrants that way, but you can't sustain running a basketball factory where nobody has any intention of actually graduating.
