Was Roundtree or Crockett 1A or 1B? I don't think the team was that hung up on it. Crockett was the best back on the squad - splitting carries 3 ways hurt him more than it did the other guys BECAUSE Crockett is a bigger, hit the hole & go back. His game is to pound it, pound it & at some point start breaking runs. His game wasn't as suited for sitting out 60% of the series.
Crockett is the only back on this roster that has ever averaged 6+ ypc on a season - and this is the first year that he's fallen below that mark. Roundtree & Badie to some degree may have been better suited for what Dooley was trying to do this year - but that doesn't mean they're better rbs than Crockett (they're not.)
If Crockett was the 3rd back, why did he lead the team in carries the two games preceding his injury.
Crockett is the only one of the 3 with any shot of playing in the NFL.
