I just expect better than .500 if he wants to be paid more than a .500 coach. And I think it's lame for him and his agent to publicly jockey for a raise by leaking to the media.
I want him to succeed and I want us to win a lot of games. I don't want to get stuck paying him a lot over 5 years and then figure out he sucks next year when the Heisman-contending QB that he happened to inherit is gone.
If he can finish over .500 in the SEC without Lock, then throw more money at him. I think it's a bad idea to give him a raise before that. He hasn't shown he can recruit. He hasn't shown that he can coach defense. If he can't do those things, then is he worth middle-of-the-pack SEC pay? I say no.
