It is not about political ideology. Or it shouldn’t be. It should be about strict adherence to the rule of law. And the constitution is the foundation for that rule of law.

Strict adherence. Extreme adherence. Even if people demonstrate in the streets, or the New York Times says you are a poopy head. You cannot be moderate with strictly enforcing the law.

A wise Latina brings nothing, absolutely nothing to the court. Perspective, background, diversity, all of that crap… Means nothing. Someone capable of reading the constitution. Understanding of the constitution. And enforcing the constitution .

The tough part of course for the really really stupid people to understand, is that you must enforce the constitution even if it is against your political ideology. What you believe doesn’t matter. What the Constitution says matters.

As an example, and I get grief from conservatives about this all the time, the constitution says anyone born in the United States is a citizen. Please don’t tell me that that is not what they meant. Please don’t say that times have changed and anchor babies are not what they were intending To protect. That’s what it says. If you want something different, change the friggin constitution.

A wise Latina, or some other idiot does not add perspective to interpreting what the Constitution says.
