in the last 20 years. And I don't think there has been. Around the Gore/Bush election, a study indicated, at least on social issues, the country was a definite liberal lean. Since then we have seen wholesale legalization of pot and the pretty broad acceptance of gays - to the degree that trannies are now less rare than once. Fiscally we are more conservative. I don't agree with your assessment, but the US is far too diverse a nation to be well served by either of these sides - mostly expressed on the edges - as we would a moderate bench.
