He made mistakes in 2 key areas of being a PG.

1. Against the press. Since he's not a real PG, there has to be a team approach to breaking the press and this is about the only area where I really fault Martin in year one coaching. Yes, we need to be better than Geist, but if that's what you have, you can't ask a guy to do more than he is capable of.
2. Playmaking in countdown situations. Again, Geist is not equipped to be the creator in these situations. We need a better guy that him doing this, but is it really his fault he's being asked to do more than he can?
He's a good type of guy to have on a team, but unfortunately, we have to rely on him more than we should.
I expect the coach to do two things:
1. recruit better players than that to be PG
2. make adjustments to help the guy out rather than just hoping he finds a way to make a play.
