But if it happens, AND we keep our ass out of it (except to return the favor to fat boy), then any world wide effect would surely be minimal and short lived IMO. And I see no lasting detriment to us.

Oh, to keep our ass out of it in a harmful way, we get our troops the hell out of there. Should have decades ago. Like, why the hell we need them there when we got nukes? Seriously.
