a "consensus view"?

For instance, would you deny that exposing people to excessive levels of radiation drastically raises their risk of cancer, just because it's only "a consensus view"?

Would you not arrest or imprison a mass murderer who was identified by a multitude of witness because it was only "a consensus view"?
