Even the team that takes him will likely admit he's not really ready, but that he has the potential to be good.
The system is VERY flawed, but based on the system, the odds are that he should probably go.
Jontay's problem is not skill. It is athleticism. He will struggle to keep up with a lot of guys.
And no, he is not ready. That is not debatable. It does not mean he won't get taken and it does not mean he won't have a nice career. I actually expect him to do both. BUT, there will be growing pains early on and he will almost certainly spend time in the DLeague. And it is quite possible, maybe probable, that another year or two of college would eliminate those growing pains.
In the big picture of how the world works, he should not go. In the jacked up micro-world of the NBA, he probably should.
