He can more than make up that 10-15 mil in his second contract, and he gets to it a year earlier by going pro earlier.
Even if he's late first round, that money is guaranteed. There's a reason why Cal always tells his guys to go pro if you're 1st round, because you never know what can happen. He has Dajuan Wagner as a prime example of a guy who wanted to come back, and he wouldn't let him. Then after getting his guaranteed 1st round money, he got diagnosed with colitis and his pro career was over. If he hadn't left when he did, he would never have gotten paid.
This is why it isn't so simple. If you have a chance at guaranteed money when you're in a professional athletic career, there's a lot of reasons to take it and not gamble on increasing the amount for the first few years.
