I talked with a close friend who knows the NBA, scouts, etc. He says( unfortunateley for those like me who selfishly would like to see him return), that people realize JP is a likely lottery pick in 2019, and so it makes sense to grab him now. The pay will be less and it's a bargain.
The only thing I can see which may make this decision difficult, is the parents wanting their 18 yr old son to not live independently. It's more likely they'd want to look after him wherever he goes. (These people home schooled, for goodness sake). There are younger children at home so, I'm not sure I see either leaving their home from one of their many children. It's the families choice.
As for kU. Gatto, isn't a street thug but a high paid Adidas executive. He will cooperate to avoid incarceration. He has to completely and honestly cooperate FULLY. Who knew what, and at what time will be disclosed. Only a kU fan would be naive enough to think some of the coachs, didn't know who was being paid and why they were coming/funneled to.
As of yesterday, the school has not stated they are opening their own internal investigation which is also unusual.
