I know very little about the Ramey family

Other than the name has been around the local AAU circuit for as long as I can remember, and I've never heard anything negative.
That said, it struck me as more sincere than most people are taking it. I wish the reporter would've taken the extra step to contact Courtney himself, though. That would've helped provide context that was missing.
It seems like Ramey's options (out of this initial favorites) are increasingly going away. A lot of other teams are getting back involved. SMU, South Carolina, and Illinois just visited him yesterday. I think they're probably sincere in saying they'd like Mizzou to continue to recruit him. Not just for the attention, but because he's re-evaluating his options. Maybe he did have Mizzou off his list, which caused us to look elsewhere. But I get the impression that they'd be open to listening if we were to go after him now.
