there is not the real issue.
The real issue is whether they reasonably believe that she is a threat to their lives or others' lives. As far as they knew she was an armed and desperate felon who had already pointed a gun at them. She came running out of the mobile home she had broken into with an object in her hand that looked like a gun.
I think there is a pretty strong case that could be made that the officers reasonably felt that she was a lethal threat to them at that time.
Whether her original offense was stealing a car or a tricycle is really irrelevant to that determination it seems to me.
