He shouldn't have hired Cross and also should not have hired Shipp probably. Huepel is a real weirdo. No one thought that dude would stick around for long. The secondary guy probably took a look at how the defense was being handled at the time, and the personnel on board and was like: I'm going to coach on a real defense filled with adults. I'm not sure why Elarbee left, but it sounds like he didn't even give Odom a chance to offer him the OC job.

Odom's real problem may be who he hires in the first place, not an inability to get them to stay.
