different things are in harmony, there should be no conflict, just like in a military hierarchy.

If the Lieutenant at My Lai had been following military protocol the men under him would not have been asked to break their allegiance to him or to their country.

Similarly, if a nation truly is "under God", then there would be no disharmony between ones allegiance to God and then to country.
