Otherwise, you will run into situations where there will be a conflict between things you have sworn allegiance to. In resolving that conflict, you will have to side with just one of those two things you've sworn allegiance to. Thus, you will necessarily break your alleged allegiance to the other thing.
You cannot swear allegiance to two things, and expect to keep your word.
