It's home to Western Michigan & not near Ann Arbor.

Central Michigan is far away from Ann Arbor. I'm not seeing competition from Mt. Pleasant.

Eastern Michigan is in Ann Arbor's backyard - 8 miles east of Ann Arbor. At least read the section titled Better Attendance:

What universities in Detroit compete with Ann Arbor for football fans...Wayne State, Detroit Mercy?

Even metro Toledo has 3.5 times the population of metro COMO.
