at some meeting passed a bylaw that commercial vehicles had to be kept in garages.
They were enforcing it against people who owned businesses and kept commercial vehicles at home. There were guys with landscaping or plumbing businesses and so on and neighbors turned them in for parking vehicles in the driveway or courts and they were warned, then fined if they didn't comply.
My sons started working for a landscaper in high school and after my oldest son turned 18 they had him get his class E license. The company was some distance away and when he was working close by and would be the next day they would just have him take the trucks home and drive them directly to the job site the next day.
Several times he drove a big truck with a dump bed home. We live on a court, but luckily for us none of our neighbors complained and neither we nor he was harassed for it. I saw the newsletters, though, where some people in the HOA were fined for it and some neighbors apparently got into very heated arguments over it.
I've only been to one HOA meeting, but at that one someone stood up for the business owners who were being harassed. The involved parties were not there as far as I know, but this guy said that as far as he was concerned he was just happy that these people had jobs given the large number of people who were out of work at the time. At least a couple of the people had trucks that were too tall to fit in their garage.
Some people ended up moving over the issue.
My son never signed any HOA agreement. Do you think the HOA had any legitimate authority over him to say that he couldn't park the dump truck down the street a bit?
