Giving him credit for the SEC move is absurd. We were invited for our TV sets (flagship university of the 18th most populous state), academics and AAU status, proximity to other SEC schools (bordering 3 SEC states), and being at the right place at the right time (A&M leaving the Big12 for the SEC).
If the SEC wanted a good FB program they could have added West Virginia, but they wanted TV sets and an AAU school so they invited Missouri instead (UF's president being an MU fan helped our case as well). Keep in mind, we never won a conference title or even reached a BCS bowl game under Alden... they definitely didn't invite us for FB.
