You're more critical of the criticizers than you are of the "fan" ("fans".)
Nobody should have to demand action - the Red Sox should not allow that - or calling a player a m'fer either (if that make you feel better.) Fans should tell the offender to STFU and point them out to security. It's a story because Boston (not just the team, but surrounding fans) didn't do that.
Fans pay their $ and if they want to boo or ride an opposing player - fine, but there are lines that they can't cross.
Individuals have a right to not be subjected to such BS in the workplace.
