It's not logical for a coach to voluntarily go from the second-best SEC job as you've called it to a school that's most recent conference game was in Conference USA.
He ran from a coaching tenure that was steadily going downhill and didn't have confidence he could stop the slide. So he sought a landing spot.
Tulsa foolishly gave it to him. History is now repeating itself. Inherit a lot of talent from the previous coach, have some success while that talent comprises the bulk of the team, have less success when forced to rely on your own recruits.
