that the move from UW (and Romar getting fired) had nothing to do with MPJ — it had everything to do with his father. MPJ even says in the quote you referenced that his father is calling the shots. "He trusts him."
The reason Romar was fired was because — behind the scenes — Porter Sr. was in talks with MU/Sterk/Cuonzo and the entire thing was coordinated and negotiated through back channels. MPJ was not in the loop at all, nor should he have been.
Remember, UW announced publicly that they were retaining Romar for another season. It wasn't until AFTER Mizzou hired Cuonzo Martin that UW suddenly fired Romar. The timing was not coincidental... Porter had informed the UW AD that he was leaving, and that sealed Romar's fate with the AD.
This never would have happened with Kim Anderson still at MU. In fact, the whole reason the Porters left CoMo in the first place was because they didn't want to play for Kim. That's why MU was #2 instead of #1 at the time.
