CAKE conference. And Norm played in the big 8 with KU, OU, OSU, ISU, etc. We had MUCH more competition than Gonzaga, so was harder to get the higher seed. Granted what Gonzaga did today, was impressive, but had it been Zona, we'd be adding years to their total of not making final four today. Sure Xavier beat Zona outright, but as an 11 seed, that was a much easier path for Gonzaga.

I went to Mizzou 1993-1997 so I am a tad Norm Biased, but I just think CAKE conferences SKEW things a tad when comparing results, or coaches. Feel that way for Wichita State as well. BS conference. So it inflates Marshall's value.
