I know the penalty if you don't fulfill the NLI is losing a year of eligibility. From what I understand it still requires you to attend that school for 1 year, but does it say what year?
Example: Wash U denies request. Porter Jr. says F it, I'm going to X School anyway. My 2 questions are
1. Is he restricted from enrolling anywhere else?
and
2. Does that losing a year of eligibility deduct from his total or make him ineligible for the first year?
I'm sure there's a lot more legalese in the actual contract but it almost sounds like he could say I'm willing to give up a year of eligibility since I know I'm going to the NBA to not fulfill the contract. It becomes an issue if the NCAA interferes with his enrollment and eligibility. Based on the pdf below it seems really muddy.
