The meaning doesn't change. that is why it is a dead document. Amendments don't make it a living document; the Constitution contains language allowing for amendments

Living document means that the phrases, words, and meanings are to be interpreted by current meaning.

Dead document (which the Constitution is) means that those words and phases as they were understood to mean at the time of writing and passage.

The amendment process has nothing to do with living/dead document.
