Commerce is commerce. The framers realized that new methods of commerce would come along that is why they chose a generic term for it instead of specifying what they identified as commerce.

They painted in broad strokes not so that we could change the meaning of the document but so that it was inclusive of change and would not have to be modified every time a new invention or process came along.
