after a battle, and hid them under his tent. He did this in secret, and thought it was no one else's problem or concern. And the next time they we out to battle, 36 of his countrymen were slaughtered and they were routed in battle. The man's name is Achan, and it's a true story. His secret sin caused the deaths of 36 men in battle, and ruined many other lives of the family members of those 36 dead men. Of course, one should tell these children that they should still excel, and become great, but perhaps because there isn't that strong leadership in the home, they fall back. You would say too bad. It's their own responsibility. I say you're right, but that doesn't mean there wasn't any negative impact upon their life, and that understanding the bigger picture doesn't help explain how the fatherless children wound up not doing as well as they should.
