Because previously, you've said that only transfers to a 4 year institution qualify for a waiver. Not true.
1. Modifications to NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate Transfer Adjustment Criteria. The
NCAA Division I Committee on Academics modified the automatic APR transfer adjustment criteria.
The modified criteria no longer require student-athletes attend the previous institution for a minimum
of one academic year and allow student-athletes who immediately transfer to a two-year institution
with at least a 3.300 cumulative grade-point average to qualify for the adjustment, if all other criteria
are met. The other requirements, a 2.600 cumulative GPA for student-athletes transferring to a
four-year institution, remaining eligible during the last term of enrollment prior to transfer and
transferring immediately to another institution, remain in place.
The policy change is effective immediately and retroactively for all student-athletes accounted for in multiyear APR data currently being collected, allowing institutions to use the new standard dating back to the 2012-13 academic year. The immediate effective date will permit institutions to make late corrections to APR data this fall and allow requests for student-athletes who meet the new criteria to be approved through
the regular adjustment process. All other data policies will continue to apply for any penalties and/or loss of access to postseason incurred based on data from prior years. The committee also endorsed immediate membership outreach to ensure the membership is appropriately educated on the change in policy. This outreach will
include teleconferences, webinars, Academic Portal programming and an article on NCAA.org. [See subcommittee discussion at Informational Item No. 12-a.]
